Good padding inside in the laptop storage compartment. This is a sturdy pack with lots of great organizer pockets and a surprising amount of space. Its great to use as a commuter dapack. Its also very comfortable - even when stuffed completely full. Great price on this pack from Amazon and it was shipped quickly.
Both sons tell me they are very pleased with the amount of space the pack has. The amount of well zippered compartments goes well with the overall durability. I was pleased with the price and the overall looks of this very stong pack--great purchase for christmas that made my sons happy--I cannot speak to its longevity but as a seasoned consumer on outdoor products I would expect many useful years--even though my kids are pretty hard on things--i feel good about this purchase
Lives up to all my expectations of a Swiss Gear backpack (this is my second) and at a great price. My only small nit is that I would like more places on the outside to which I could clip carabiners.
Lots of pockets with variable sizes make for easy and strategic storage. This bag is rock solid. It seems heavy to pick up, but the design makes it feather-light on your back. Side pockets with straps are perfect for securing water bottles and soda cans. My 17 inch Macbook (last generation) does fit into the laptop section with enough top-side room to spare; however, it does not fit perfectly into the padded sleeve, not a big deal.
Bought this for my son who has about 14 lbs of books to carry and the construction is very durable. It also distributes the weight of the pack on his shoulders better with the top attachment being all the way across. He states it does not dig into his shoulders like others he has had. When this one wears out we will definitely be looking at SwissGear for any future purchases.
